Veronica Mihailov-Moraru: Reorganization of courts is important amidst justice reform and European path

The process of revising the judicial map must advance in order to ensure more efficient access to justice for citizens and to find the most optimal solutions to ensure the specialization of judges. At the same time, the reorganization of courts is important in the context of the justice sector reform and Moldova’s European path, said Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said, being quoted by IPN.

The bill to amend the Law on the Reorganization of Courts (judicial map reform), registered at the end of last year, was debated on the platform of the Consultative Council of the Ministry of Justice.

During the discussions, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru noted that the bill is a priority for the Ministry of Justice so that other processes of modernization of courts could start in parallel. “It is important to have discussions with the involvement of all institutions concerned, including representatives of Parliament, who will soon receive this draft law for consideration,” stated the official.

Attending the debates, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that it is necessary to efficiently implement the judicial map and recommended that the draft law be finalized and remitted to the legislative body as soon as possible.

The reorganization of the court system is one of the objectives of the Strategy for ensuring the independence and integrity of the justice sector for 2022-2025 and is an action stipulated in the National Plan for the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
