The finalist of the 2012 Moldova’s Cup Veris Chisinau successfully started the new edition of the competition. The team patronized by Vladimir Niculaita qualified for the 1/8 finals after beating FC Comrat 4-0. The national team’s former striker Serghei Alexeev scored his first two goals for Veris, IPN reports.
Viorel Frunza also scored a goal, while Ciorbadji, of FC Comrat, contributed to the victory of Veris by scoring a goal in his team’s goal.
Veris was directed in the match by Eugen Molovata, but from October 31 the team will have a new coach, whose name will be announced in a news conference. “The future coach is a surprise for us too,” said Veris captain Viorel Frunza.
The National Division team Speranta Crihana Veche was eliminated from the competition. The team from Cahul was defeated by Saxan 2-3 in overtime. The other matches of the 1/16 finals ended as follows: Granicerul - Dinamo-Auto 0-4, Gagauzia - Real-Succes 1-2, and Olimpia - Intersport-Aroma 4-1.
