Veris is the only team that obtained the maximum score after two matches played in the National Division. The team trained by Lilian Popescu beat Zaria Balti 2-1 in the evening of August 3, IPN reports.
Veris clearly dominated the first half of the game played in Orhei. Frunza, Calincov and Pisla were close to scoring in the opponent’s goal, but goalkeeper Mosneaga saved the situation every time. The score was opened in the 56th minute by Cascaval. In 12 minutes, Zaria, which is the former team Olimpia, tied through striker Acusta. The victory goal was scored by Josan in the 76th minute.
“We made things difficult ourselves. We created many occasions for scoring, but were uninspired towards the end. Zaria was a worthy opponent and we are glad that we gained three points. A hot game with Zimbru will follow, which will show our level,” Veris coach Lilian Popescu said after the match
“I’m glad that we showed a good game, even if we defended ourselves more. We could have tied, but missed the chance. Veris deserved the victory. It is better than we and includes many valuable players. We yet hope to do well this season and not to be at the bottom of the rankings,” said the coach of Zaria Nicolae Bunea.
The other matches of the second stage ended as follows: Dacia - Milsami 2-0, Saxan - Sheriff 1-1, FC Tiraspol - Dinamo-Auto 8-1, while Academia - Zimbru 0-2.
