The president of the Armenian diaspora in Moldova Venera Gasparean accuses the channel Publika TV of spreading false information about her son David Davitean and other members of her family. The woman said that in the talk show “Fabrika” produced by this TV channel, there was shown and discussed an investigation film that provided false information about her son, trying to create an artificial connection between David Davitean and Renato Usatyi.
In a news conference at IPN, Venera Gasparean said Publika TV denigrated her son and misled society. The film about Renato Usatyi “Killer in Law. Misprint” that was broadcast by this TV channel and discussed in “Fabrika” said that in January 2013, David Davitean left Moldova together with Vitalie Proca and headed for Moscow to commit “particular acts”. In reality, Vitalie Proca was accompanied by his son, who was born in 2010 and, as his uncle, is called David Davitean.
Lawyer Ludmila Bolocan said the shown images defame David Davitean, who has been held in Penitentiary No. 13 since October 18, 2016 and is accused of very serious offenses. “During September 12-14, Publika TV continuously broadcast this information, powerfully influencing the public opinion and creating a negative image of David Davitean. We warn those who made this film that they should collect sufficient facts and should furnish genuine images, not deceitful information,” stated the lawyer.
Another lawyer of the family Alexandru Botnariuc said that by this film the authors misinformed society. He called on the journalists to inform themselves about the developments in the case of Proca without involving David Davitean and to ask for the opinion of all the sides.
Venera Gasparean demanded that Publika TV should apologize publicly and should deny the broadcast information.
