As of July 1, the vehicles registered in the territorial administrative units of Transnistria and in Bender municipality cannot travel on the right side of the Nistru River. The ban applies to persons who possess a Moldovan driver’s license and live on the right side of the Nistru.
By derogation, the circulation of the given vehicles is permitted if these are property of business entities based in the territorial administrative units situated on the left side of the Nistru and in Bender municipality and if the drivers are employees of these companies.
In the other cases, the vehicles with Transnistrian numbers driven by persons who live on the right side of the Nistru will be towed to a special parking lot or the parking lot of the nearest police station.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Natalia Golovko said the vehicles parked at the special station are returned to the owners or their legal representative immediately after the reasons why these were brought to the parking lots are removed. The costs associated with the transportation of the vehicle to the station and with parking are covered by the culprit.
During the past six months, the owners of motor vehicles registered abroad or on the left side of the Nistru, regardless of the life of the vehicles, were able to place these under the import customs regime of Moldova by paying 30% of the tax rate set for 2016.
