Vehicles prevented from parking on sidewalks on Micle St through benches

Benches and flower vases were placed on sidewalks on a portion of Veronica Micle St in central Chisinau, at the intersection with Vlaicu Parcalab St, in a move to increase the comfort of pedestrians and to prevent the illegal parking of vehicles. The initiative was put forward by the General Public Amenities Division.

Vasile Efros, head of the Division’s Territorial Development and Cleanup Section, has told IPN that the set of urban furniture includes seven benches, different flower vases and garbage bins. That area is full of vehicles parked on sidewalks. Cars there were parked even in crosswalks and the access with baby carriages was impossible.

Vasile Efros noted that the street name signs will also be changed in the area as these are old. Street markings for pedestrians will be renewed.

The costs for laying out the street portion came to about 30,000 lei.

A month ago, the General Public Amenities Division laid out a portion of Pushkin St, between 31 august 1989 St and Stefan cel Mare. Later, the sidewalks near the Chekov Square were freed from cars by placing barriers that prevent vehicle access.
