The persons will no longer be obliged to present the technical inspection report, which confirms that the road tax was paid, when they register a vehicle. Parliament adopted a bill to this effect after giving it a final reading. According to the sponsors of the bill, the Public Services Agency registers the ownership right in accordance with its duties that do not include the admission of vehicles into circulation, IPN reports.
The ‘mandatory technical testing’ becomes ‘periodic technical inspection’. Technical testing implies tests for new vehicles in specialized labs at the certification stage, including frontal and lateral impact tests or tests to determine the efficiency of active safety systems. Periodic technical inspection takes place according to fixed rules at particular periods of time to see if the vehicle meets particular minimum safety standards and does not endanger the lives of the driver and the other traffic participants due to technical faults.
The companies that conduct periodic technical inspections of motor vehicles will be obliged to keep records of the inspected vehicles and to transmit the necessary information to the Public Services Agency for this to be added to the State Register of Vehicles.
