The firefighters during only 24 hours had dealt with 90 vegetation fires, 30 of which in the municipality of Chisinau. Most of the fires occurred in stubble fields, Info-Prim Neo reports. Diana Turcanu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, said that several dozen hectares of land have been affected. Most of the times the people want to clean portions of land and set the waste on fire, ignoring the fact that the fire extends rapidly when there is dry grass. The firefighters warn that owing to the low humidity and intense wind, the flames expand quickly. That’s why the fire set to waste must be supervised until it stops burning. Water reserves should be created nearby to be used if need be. The people are asked not to remain indifferent when they see incipient fires and call 901. In less than a month, the firefighters extinguished 800 vegetation fires.
