Vegetation fire in Cantemir. Man found dead

Firefighters were called out to Cantemir district, where a vegetation fire spread quickly and reached several houses. During the operation, the firefighters found the body of an 81-year-old man in a garden, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the flames engulfed five abandoned houses and the dry vegetation between them, on an area of about 6 hectares. Two houses burned to the ground.

The Inspectorate repeatedly urges the population to be very cautious and to strictly comply with the anti-fire rules, especially in hot weather, to avoid the outbreak of wildfires, which can cause significant damage and lead to loss of life.

The people are asked to refrain from using fire near fields, wooded areas and recreational places so as to prevent bush fires. The citizens are urged not to set fire to dry vegetation and household garbage.

In the Republic of Moldova, a red heat advisory was issued as the temperatures are expected to increase to +40 degrees Celsius. The fire danger warning remains in force.

In situations of risk, the people are urged to call the 112 Service.
