Agricultural producers will be able to inform beekeepers about the treatment of farmland with phytosanitary products through the agency of an application. Also, the beekeepers will be able to inform farmers about the location of beehives. The creation of the BeeProtect application is envisioned by a bill that was endorsed by the Government, IPN reports.
Bill sponsor, MP Vladimir Bolea said the application that will be a mutual informing and communication platform is designed to solve the problem of poisoning of bees that causes serious damage to the beekeeping sector. The losses amount to over 60% or even to 100% of the bee families at an apiary.
As the bill requires registering electronically the information about the address of the apiary, number of bee families, address of the apiary’s owner, notifications about the use of phytosanitary products and fertilizers, the Government considers it is opportune to create an information system and a specialized state register to keep records of such data.
