Controversial businessman Veaceslav Platon, who is the representative of independent candidate Veaceslav Valico, and ex-Romanian MP Cristian Rizea, who represents the Political Party “NOI”, exchanged harsh replies in a new round of electoral debates. Rizea accused Platon of acting together with Dodon and Plahotniuc for continuing the corruption schemes after elections, while Platon said he gained all his money legally and now lives on his savings of millions of dollars, IPN reports.
Convicted to four years and eight months in jail in Romania for money laundering, former Romanian MP Cristian Rizea said he decided to become involved in politics in the Republic of Moldova so as to help root out corruption.
“The Party “NOI” really struggles and does not simulate the fight against the mafia system. We have a representative of the mafia system here, in the program - Veaceslav Platon. Platon made a pact with the devil, made a pact with Dodon and Plahotniuc and is now against Maia Sandu as he wants to be able to continue all the mafia schemes after July 11. Platon pumps money into the bloc of Usatîi,” Cristian Rizea stated in the electoral debates “You vote for you on ProTV”.
Attending the debates as the representative of independent candidate Veaceslav Valico, Platon refused to speak about his sister, who is serving time in a jail in Russia after being found guilty in the Landromat case. He also ignored the questions about his alleged involvement in schemes of corruption. The controversial businessman noted he decided to become involved in this campaign so as to tell the people the truth about the pro-European parties.
“The major objective I and the candidate I represent set is to expose the lies and manipulations to which some of the contenders resort in this campaign. Our goal is not to allow the citizens to be fooled again. I now do not work officially. I live on my savings. I have US$60 million that I earned by selling electrical energy and gas in Ukraine and the Russian Federation,” stated Veaceslav Platon.
Maria Olar, of the Working People’s Party, said the top priorities of her party are the fight against corruptions, development of the economy by attracting investments and promotion of upright people in key state posts.
“Our party consists of persons who are new in politics, who haven’t been involved in thefts and misappropriation of European funds. I do not work now, but my children maintain me. Indeed, the two-story house wasn’t declared because it belongs to my children,” stated Maria Olar, who runs for MP on the ticket of the Working People’s Party.
