Veaceslav Ionita keeps his post
The Liberal-Democrat and Communist lawmakers did not back the proposal to dismissed Lib-Dem Veaceslav Ionita from the post of chairman of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The proposal was put forward by the head of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu during discussions on the draft decision concerning the report of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the circumstances in which the ‘casino law’ was passed.
Fifteen Democrat MPs and 11 Liberal MPs voted in favor of dismissing Veaceslav Ionita. They accused him of pursuing certain goals when including the amendment providing for reducing the tax for casinos from 180,000 to 360,000 lei in the text of the adopted law. Damage of about 6 million lei was thus caused to the country’s budget. This February, the lawmakers restored the old tax.
