Veaceslav Ionita informs about another 330m lei stolen from BEM

MP Veaceslav Ionita told the reporters that he was recently notified of another scheme by which 330 million lei was stolen from Banca de Economii (BEM), in addition to the 120 million lei announced last week. “Regretfully, this scheme involves the person who five years ago convinced me to go alongside them and to develop Moldova. This is Vlad Filat,” said the lawmaker, quoted by IPN.

The statements were made after the meeting of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance, which was postponed as the quorum was not present. The meeting was to discuss the leasing out of the Chisinau International Airport, the loss of control over BEM by the state and the measures taken to support the agricultural producers, but the MPs of the ruling coalition didn’t present them themselves at it.

Veaceslav Ionita told the journalists that the money from BEM was stolen by a scheme that involved offshore firms and false loans. He said he will immediately submit all the documents he possesses to the competent bodies so that they investigate this case.

As to the fact that the Liberal Democratic Party withdrew its political support for him, Veaceslav Ionita said this thing is so insignificant compared with what is going on at Banca de Economii that he will not allot at least two seconds of his time to comment on this.

Asked by the journalists if the documents presented by Veaceslav Ionita contain real data, Communist lawmaker Oleg Reidman said he does not know if everything is true, but these documents arouse concern and the competent bodies must launch an investigation.
