The former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova Vladimir Plahotniuc didn’t leave Moldovan politics. Moreover, he has coordinated the leaving of Democratic MPs and the obstruction of the work of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Constitutional Court, businessman Veaceaslav Platon was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Nataliei Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
“The people do not realize the role of Vladimir Plahotniuc in the history of this country, but this is big. During the 11 months that passed since last June, the people relaxed considerably, while Plahotniuc has shown what he can do in Parliament. This shows again how powerful he is, how much influence he has and how he can manage Moldovan politics,” stated Veaceaslav Platon.
He said that according to his sources, Veaceaslav Platon is indeed in the U.S. Even so, the former Democratic leader has instruments to influence Moldova politics.
“The defections of MPs, the attempts to replace the prosecutor general. He works according to a number of parameters and exploits this state. He talks over the phone with Andrian Candu, Vladimir Cebotari, Ilan Shor. They all coordinate things and agree where to go, who to talk to, who and to whom pays money and how particular schemes should be arranged,” stated the businessman.
According to Veaceaslav Platon, Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo was to be replaced with the assistance of the Constitutional Court. The judges were to declare the appointment of Stoianoglo unconstitutional, but the plan failed. “Society and the influential persons expressed their dissatisfaction with this and what was to take place in a democratic state occurred. But the scenario was different. I know that there were attempts to remove Stoianoglo from the administration of the Prospector General’s Office. The plan was for the CC to declare the appointment of the prosecutor unconstitutional,” he stated.
Veaceaslav Platon noted that he does not intend to take revenge, but wants justice to be done.
On May 18, Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo announced that Vladimir Plahotniuc is one of the main beneficiaries of the bank fraud and that the case against Veaceslav Platon was fully fabricated and a procedure for reviewing his sentence will be initiated.
