VAT payers have several days to accede to e-Declaration Service

Effective from 1 January 2012, VAT payers in the jurisdictions of the fiscal inspectorates of Chisinau and Balti, the Department for Large Taxpayers, and the Comrat fiscal administration division, shall present fiscal reports exclusively electronically through the e-Declaration Service. Viorel Bolocan, the head of Fiscservinform's Assistance and Contact Center, told Radio Moldova that out of 15,000 companies that were due to accede to the Service, 14,500 had already done it and their representatives received free training in the use of the Service. The about 500 remaining companies, mostly from Chisinau, have still several days to accede to the Service until December 31 by contacting the Assistance and Contact Center. The VAT payers in these territorial units that will fail to accede to the e-Declaration Service until December 31, will be able to do that after 1 January 2012 as well, but already for a charge: 550 lei for connection plus the cost of the training. Anton Sirbu, head of Fiscservinform's marketing department, said the e-Declaration Service aimed to simplify fiscal reporting to the State Fiscal Service. The transition to electronic reporting is expected to reduce submission, mailing and travel costs. Further, it will minimize the human factor in the relationship between the fiscal service and the taxpayers and thus reduce corruption. This will also spare fiscal clerks of the effort to manually enter the received information, which will improve data processing times. In 2013 VAT taxpayers from other jurisdictions, roughly 8,000 in number, are also expected to make the transition to electronic reporting. To date around 4,200 taxpayers use the e-Declaration Service to submit fiscal reports.
