The Chisinau City Hall and the district head’s offices include too many employees, while corruption and wrongdoings transformed the municipality intro a body with the spoiled head, the Communist Party’s candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau Vasili Chirtoca said in a Social Resonance press club meeting, IPN reports.
Vasili Chirtoca stated that he is running for the mayoralty of Chisinau because he no longer wants to sees the city decaying, being destroyed by the corruption from the administration, with the public servants mocking at the people. He aims to reduce the number of employees at the Chisinau City Hall and the district head’s offices by at least one third and to direct the human resources to manage the affairs directly in quarters and parks, creating more subdivisions for the purpose.
The candidate is not a member of the Party of Communists. Vasili Chirtoca said he agreed with the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin that he will not be involved in the party’s activities and will deal only with local affairs. Moreover, the candidate intends to cooperate with the central government, regardless of its configuration.
Vasili Chirtoca promises that the apartment buildings that will be erected will not be higher than 15 meters and that larger areas will be left between constructions so as to create tracks for cyclists, that the problem of stray dogs will be solved within three years, that he will support the markets that sell mainly national products and that he will help start businesses that will supply the Chisinau-based enterprises with raw material. Mechanisms will be introduced to enable the people to give back the used bottles so that the two glass companies of Chisinau will have raw material and will employ more people.
The candidate said more museums should be set up in the historical center of Chisinau. As to the cultural-artistic life, he said by at least one concert or performance should take place in Chisinau daily. He noted that he cares about the traditional values of Moldova and that he does not see a problem in marking Europe Day in Chisinau as the Moldovans are Europeans in fact.
Vasili Chirtoca added that the policy pursued by the Party of Communists corresponds to his views because this party never divided the people into ‘ours’ and ‘theirs’ and worked for the people’s benefit and he will use the same principles in managing Chisinau.
