Vasili Sova and Mark Tkaciuc discuss aspects of Transnistrian dispute
The minister of Reintegration Vasili Sova and the President’s counsellor for internal affairs Mark Tkaciuc visited Moscow on 19-20 December in order to take part in consultations on the Transnistrian dispute’s settlement.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Reintegration, Sova and Tkaciuk had meetings at the Security Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and met with Iuri Zubacov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, and Ambassadors Valery Kenyaikin and Valery Nesterushkin.
Also, Vasile Sturza, the Ambassador of Moldova in the Russian Federation participated in the consultations.
The consultations focused on resuming the 5+2 talks which were suspended in February 2006. A series of issues related to the Transnistrian dispute were raised in order to obtain positive and tangible results in the settlement process of the conflict. In the end of the discussions the parties ascertained the necessity of resuming the dialogue between all the parties involved in order to resume the negotiations.
Similar consultations, in the same composition, took place in Moscow on November 9-10. The Ministry of Reintegration did not make the results public.
