Vasili Chirtoca, who ran for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Communists, said that even if he didn’t manage to become a mayor, he will promote his electoral program while serving as a municipal councilor. The party will be represented by three councilors in the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
Vasili Chirtoca told a news conference that in the local elections he convinced himself that the votes of most of the residents of Chisinau municipality were influenced geopolitically and the politicians divided society into two. He didn’t make populist promises and those almost 12,000 residents of the municipality who voted for him realized the necessity of making changes in their settlement.
Commenting on his electoral score, Vasili Chirtoca said he is not a public person and a month was not enough for making himself known.
As a municipal councilor, Vasili Chirtoca will make effort to fulfill his promises to ban constructions in green areas and in the historical center of Chisinau and the erecting of tall buildings in the center of the city, to build tracks for cyclists, etc. The Communist faction will not form a coalition with other factions of the Chisinau Council, but will put forward and will support initiatives designed to improve the living conditions in Chisinau.
He didn’t urge his supporters to vote for one of the two candidates who will compete in the second round of the mayoral elections – Dorin Chirtoaca and Zinaida Grecheanyi.
