Vasile Tarlev withdraws from UCM

Vasile Tarlev decided to leave the Centrist Union of Moldova (UCM), Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a public letter. Vasile Tarlev says he made such a decision after analyzing the present situation in the country and within the party and after consulting representatives of the civil society, businesspersons, scientists and people of culture. Tarlev says he will support all those who care about the destiny of their motherland. “The present deplorable situation is the result of the irreconcilable attitude of the politicians, lack of wish and elementary negotiation abilities. The former Prime Minister has been in conflict with the former leader of the party Mihai Petrache, who offered his place in the party to Vasile Tarlev in September 2008, but then decided to sue him, saying he was a self-proclaimed president of the UCM. In the ordinary parliamentary elections, the UCM polled 2.05% of the vote and did not enter the Parliament. In the early elections, Vasile Tarlev, accompanied by a number of supporters, ran under the list of the Social-Democratic Party, which did not pass the election threshold either.
