Vasile Tarlev: Moldova deserves an EU Association Agreement
Moldova deserves to have an Association Agreement with the EU, just like the Western Balkan countries, and are working to see it happen, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev told reporters after today’s meeting of the National Committee on European Integration.
The Premier also pleaded for a free movement regime across the European Union for the citizens of Moldova.
When asked about the agreement that will follow the expiring Moldova-EU Action Plan, Tarlev said such talks are untimely, but mentioned that a special working group chaired by Moldova’s Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan is holding negotiations with European experts in this direction.
The Republic of Moldova deserves better that an extended Action Plan, the Premier concluded.
At today’s meeting, the Committee heard reports on the implementation of the Action Plan by the Ministry of Finance, the National Agency for Fair Competition, the Customs Service, and the Civil Aviation Authority.
Vasile Tarlev voiced some objections and recommendations on the reports, but stated that so far the implementation of the Action Plan hasn’t seen any major complications.
