The protests staged in the Great National Assembly Square by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” revealed the serious things happening in the country and exerted pressure on the Moldovan political class, one of the Platform’s leaders Vasile Nastase said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“Before the protests, they spoke about the theft of the US$1 billion behind closed doors. Now this issue is discussed by each citizen and the European officials. The people were helped to wake up and realize the seriousness of the situation,” stated Nastase.

The representative of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” said that Filat’s arrest, which ended with the dismissal of the Strelet Government, is a result of the protests mounted in the central square of Chisinau. “On October 4, the people shook a little the nest of the mafia based on Cantemir Blvd. If we hadn’t stopped them, the protesters could have devastated that building. Filat’s arrest is connected with the October 4 protest. It’s clear that Plahotniuc is the beneficiary of the money stolen from Banca de Economii, as Filat is, to a smaller extent,” he said.

Vasile Nastase noted that not the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, but the Great National Assembly Council will create a political party. “The Platform will remain a civic organization. There are 12 founders and not all of them want to enter politics. The Council includes different persons, such as the farmers’ representative Alexandru Slusari and former minister of education Maia Sandu,” he stated.
