“Love for the song made me follow the road of music,” said singer Vasile Mereuta. In his new album that is to be launched, Vasile Mereuta sings about the sorrows and concerns of the ordinary people. For the first time, the singer sings together with his son, IPN reports.
Vasile Mereuta said he is inspired by folklore, which has no limits. ”In the folk music CD, on which I worked for four years, I wanted to incorporate more songs that I sang together with the prestigious orchestra “Folklore”. The album also contains the song “The cuckoo sings”, which is sung by other singers too. But I gave this song special clothing. Another song is “My dear village”, whose music was written by Sergiu Raileanu, while the text by Doina Arsenie. There are also songs composed by Cornel Botgros, Gheorghe Scutaru, and Viorel Scutaru. Most of the songs are yet folklore,” stated the singer.
The album hasn’t been yet promoted. Only the artist’s good friends know about it. “We are to record one more song and will then promote the CD through the mass media or, possibly, through a record house. The CD includes a duet with my son, Dumitru, which is a novelty. Many people told me that he has an extraordinary voice, even better than mine. I’m really glad,” said Vasile Mereuta
The singer also said that for him music is a vocation, a gift from God. “It is the mirror of my soul. I am what I sing. My parents sang and I inherited their talent. My son studies singing and the accordion. He follows in my footsteps. Love for the song made by do what I have done until now,” stated the singer.
Though he loves the art of music, Vasile Mereuta does not aim to conquer the world of music. “I know that it is a harsh world and it is hard to become its favorite, but this is not my goal. I do not want to reach the big stage. I communicate with the people when they are in front of me, when I sing and they listen to me,” he noted.
The artist said that without the support of Master Nicolae Botgros, Corneliu Botgros and the orchestra “Lautarii” (“Fiddlers”), he wouldn’t have succeeded to transmit the essence of the folk song.
Writer Nicolae Dabija recently wrote an article about Vasile Mereuta’s role in the people’s art in the magazine “Literature and Art”. He said the singer sings with his heart and teaches the audience to listen to him with their heart. He also said that Vasile Mereuta sings about the people, history, parents, brothers and sisters, longing for the native village, which are topics that help us feel what love for the country is.
