The president of the Party “Democracy at Home” Vasile Costiuc was arrested for 72 hours in the morning of January 12. During the arrest, through Facebook Live he live-streamed how a representative of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) handed over the arrest warrant to him and informed him that he can call his lawyer. This also said that if the video is disseminated by the press, he will be held accountable.

Press officer of the National Anticorruption Center Ina Voloshchuk confirmed for IPN that Vasile Costiuc was arrested. She said that NAC officers and anticorruption prosecutors are carrying out searches in the case of illegal sale of lots of land in Durlești, including at the home of Vasile Costiuc.

Vasile Costiuc is one of the two persons who were arrested in this case this morning. “Investigation measures are taken at four addresses in the municipality of Chisinau. These cover persons who illegally came into possession of land, being close to the former mayor,” NAC said in a statement.
