The presents given to public functionaries out of politeness or on protocol occasions must not exceed the value of 1,000 lei during a calendar year. The Cabinet approved a bill that regulates the legal regime for presents provided to public functionaries, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Justice, which drafted the bill, the capping of the value of such presents will prevent the distribution of presents among a number of people so as not to declare and yield them up.
The presents will be assessed within three days of the receipt of the gift.
