The Buiucani District Court on October 23 decided to extend the warrant for the arrest of the director of SRL “Valiexchimp” for a period of 30 days, IPN reports.
The director of “Valiexchimp” was arrested by prosecution officers of the National Anticorruption Center on October 22. He is suspected of taking out 82 million lei from Banca de Economii, through the agency of an economic entity, using documents with evidently false data.
He faces a fine of 40 000 to 60 000 lei or three to eight years in jail for illegally getting the loan. He could also be banned from performing particular activities for a period of up to five years. The legal person can be liquidated.
Five months ago, anticorruption officers arrested the businessman on suspicion of involvement in other swindling schemes. He is accused of obtaining loans of about 400 000 000 lei from Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank through the agency of five companies affiliated to “Valiexchimp”. The damage caused to the banks was estimated at 465 000 000 lei.
Though the prosecutors asked that the suspect should be remanded in custody, the court ordered that he be released and that he should present himself at the prosecution bodies whenever he is summoned.
