Valeriu Strelet: We are to agree which party should field candidate for PM

The parties that are negotiating the formation of a parliamentary majority haven’t yet agreed which of them should propose the candidate for Prime Minister. In the consultations held with President Nicolae Timofti on December 18, it was decided to take a new break until December 21, when a new meeting with the head of state will take place, IPN reports.

The acting chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Valeriu Strelet said that no names have been uttered yet as the discussions now focus on the prerogative of fielding the candidate.

“We have time until next Monday to reach a compromise as to which of the parties has this prerogative. We consider that we have the same number of seats of MP as the Democratic Party – 19 to 19. We do not have a common viewpoint and are to have more discussions tomorrow and the day after tomorrow so as to try and reach a consensus until next Monday, 2pm,” stated Valeriu Strelet.
