The re-formation of the government is increasingly probable, considers the deputy head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the MP said the situation when the government does not enjoy clear, visible and firm support in Parliament is abnormal, IPN reports.

Valeriu Strelet said some of the conclusions formulated by Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici in his letter are rather relevant and reveal an alarming situation in the financial-banking sector. “The Premier expressed his concern about the created situation, anticipating the possible effects and consequences in the short and medium terms. As to his ultimatum concerning the dismissal of senior officials of state institutions, this is a solution he considers right. I also mentioned such a solution earlier,” he stated.

The Liberal-Democratic lawmaker noted that the fall of the government means deepening of the political crisis as a majority must be formed to assume responsibility for governance and to vote in a new government. “We will discuss this situation inside the party. There is not much time left until July 6. In this interval we will have local elections and possibly the second round of voting. I don’t know if Parliament, which is to adopt these decisions, will be fully functional in this electoral period,” he stated, noting that all the other consequences must be taken into account too.

Valeriu Strelet also said that when a body is dismissed in corpore, the void must be filled immediately. The problem formulated by the Premier is complex and solutions must be identified to it.

Last weekend, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici asked for support from the head of state and Parliament in dismissing the administration of the National Bank, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Commission for Financial Markets. In an official letter to the President and Parliament, the Premier says he will resign in a month if decision makers of the mentioned institutions are not discharged.
