Valeriu Strelet: PLDM remains in government

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) remains in government and will be a vocal party, a party of action that will put forward many initiatives that could be inconvenient for some of the coalition partners and a party that will be near the people and that will act with responsibility for the present and future of Moldova, the party’s new leader, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said after the meeting of the National Political Council of the PLDM, quoted by IPN.

Valeriu Strelet said they consider that the October 15 events were well-prepared, orchestrated and unilateral, noting that firm actions are needed to take Moldova out of captivity. “We can do it together, taking part in governance for a period, on particular conditions, and forming very clear reform conditions,” said Strelet, without specifying these conditions.

The leader of the PLDM also said that profound changes are needed in Moldova. “Our decisions are those on which Moldova’s fate and the fate of reforms will depend in the future. The PLDM has always been the nucleus of these reforms and was the driving force of these processes,” he stated.

On October 15, Vlad Filat was deprived of parliamentary immunity by the votes of 79 MPs, at the request of the prosecutor general. Immediately after the sitting of Parliament, Vlad Filat was placed under arrest for 72 hours. He is accused of passive corruption and influence peddling.
