The MP of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Valeriu Strelet could be the new candidate of the Lib-Dems for Prime Minister, Pro TV reports, quoted by IPN.
According to unofficial reports, the PLDM changed its candidate for premiership. Thus, Valeriu Strelet could be the party’s new candidate. Strelet has served as an MP on behalf of the PLDM since 2009.
Last weekend, the parliamentary factions were contacted by the staff of President Nicolae Timofti and invited to consultations with the head of state to agree a candidate for Premier. The meeting was yet rescheduled for several times.
The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration had a new round of negotiations on July 27. As last week, these left without making statement for the press after the talks. According to Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu, an agreement concerning the candidate for premiership hasn’t been yet reached and the leaders of the AEI will make statements only when a consensus is reached.
