Valeriu Ostalep: Moldova is not outside danger of terrorist acts

The Republic of Moldova, as other states, is threatened by the danger of Islamic terrorism, but the authorities ignore this fact, Valeriu Ostalep, director of the Institute of Diplomatic, Political and Security Studies, said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“The day when something will explode in our country too is close. We relaxed as if what is going on around us does not refer to us. The government shows disinterest and does not care about this country and its people. Until it is not too late, we must realize the danger of terrorist acts and adopt a strategy how to behave in such situations.  We must invest in intelligent solutions. We do not have a body that would cope with a terrorist act,” stated the expert.

Valeriu Ostalep noted that Moldova is affected by the events taking place in the state from its neighborhood. “It may seem that the conflicts between the U.S. and Russia and between Russia and Ukraine do not have an impact on us. All the conflicts faced by the neighboring states affect us politically and economically. The geographical location of our country has always held strategic interest,” he stated.
