Valeriu Oaserele was reelected mayor of Hirova village of Calarasi district in the May 28 local elections.

The run-off mayoral elections in Hirova involved the Party of Socialists’ candidate Isac Scafaru and the Democrats’ candidate Valeriu Oaserele. The latter polled 377 votes of the 537 cast.

In February 2016, Valeriu Oaserele was suspended from the post of mayor for a two-year period and banned from holding executive posts for a year by a court decision. This April, Valeriu Oaselere has been amnestied and he later fielded himself for mayor.
