Ex-premier of Moldova Valeriu Muravski said that too many hopes are connected with the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) and thus a consensus should be reached, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”When the AEI came to power in 2009, as a citizen and person who was involved in politics at the start of the 1990s, I had many hopes. I started from the idea that a new generation of politicians, who are younger, more energetic and smarter, came to power. However, when you listen to some of them, you ask yourself if they read at least something in their life,” Valeriu Muravski said in an interview for Radio Moldova. The former prime minister expressed his regret at the fact that the current politicians, regardless of their age, turned out to be arrogant, do not tolerate the opinion of their political opponents and many of them detached themselves from the people and their interests. According to him, the goal of many politicians is to become rich. For the purpose, they make use of the state institutions, including the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, the National Integrity Commission, and the legal system. According to Valeriu Muravski, in most of the political parties the decisions are taken by the leader or a narrow group of persons, while the other members obey. But there are also honest and competent people, who cannot yet reach the upper political echelons. Thus, they should be helped to enter great politics by earmarking a number of seats for constituencies (uninominal voting). As regards the work of the coalition government, Valeriu Muravski said the experience of many countries shows this is a possible practice. “I’m not Filat’s lawyer, but it seems to me that the other two leaders of the AEI did not read well the part concerning the Government’s activity. The premier is responsible for the whole work of the executive and should have levers to make the ministers do their duty. The functionaries should be able to fulfill their duties, regardless of the color of the Government,” he stated. A to the termination of the AEI agreement, the ex-premier considers that its provisions weren’t negotiated well by the three components. Now the PL, PDM and PLDM must reach a compromise. “Solutions should be identified to unlock the crisis. Foreign experts can be involved, including from the EU and U.S., so as to find the solution as soon as possible,” said Valeriu Muravski, who was Moldova’s prime minister in 1991- 1992.
