Valeriu Munteanu: We will build modern boulevard instead of railways

The problem of traffic in the municipality of Chisinau can be easily solved by building a modern boulevard instead of the railways that divide Chisinau into two, considers the Liberal Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Valeriu Munteanu, IPN reports.

“The removal of the railways that divide Chisinau and make it ugly is one of the first projects I will launch after I’m elected mayor. The railroads will avoid Chisinau (about 35 km), as will the planned belt road, as in all the large European cities,” the candidate stated in a news conference.

According to Valeriu Munteanu, westwards the railway will reach Vatra, where a passenger terminal will be built, while westwards this will reach Revaca station. The area of the railways and railroad depots from Revaca to Vatra will be replaced with a large boulevard with tens of ramifications to all the districts of the city and its suburbs.

“My project to modernize and urbanize the railroad area will become a driving force for the development of Chisinau. I will give work to designing and building firms in Chisinau. I will provide the developers with land for building business premises in concession conditions,” stated Valeriu Munteanu.

As a mayor, the Liberal said he will order to work out a Master Plan of transport infrastructure in Chisinau. Depending on the necessities and traffic flow, it will be decided where to place underground and aboveground passages and parking lots. International development agencies, such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, will be requested to help technically to think up the Master Plan and to provide a grant for paying the experts that will work on the Plan.
