The president of the Save Bessarabia Union (USB) Valeriu Munteanu said there are three parties with unionist views that are considering the possibility of strengthening cooperation and want to work on a common platform. He didn’t explain what this cooperation consists in, but noted that the three parties could ultimately merge as the goal of these parties is to forge unity on the unionist platform.
“From our viewpoint, consolidation also means separation from the current legal entities, including mergers. I make this statement being mandated by the party and based on the discussions we had. We, those from the USB, want to break the ice and will prove this together with the Liberal Party with which we discussed, including with its leader Mister Chirtoacă, and consider that we will be able to start this process alongside other entities,” Valeriu Munteanu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel.
According to him, the process of strengthening cooperation is based on the parties’ intention to find a formula by which to combine forces. “We will make a call to all those who are well-intentioned and to all those who do not have other commitments. We have no obstacle, at least in the discussions, to reaching a reasonable formula, up to the merger, as the people are waiting for this,” stated Valeriu Munteanu.
He said the classification of the unionists according to their actions and their past will be left aside as things will not move on otherwise. “We consider that when one wants to contribute to building something common, conditions on each other should not be imposed,” he noted.
The leader of the USB said the three parties, the USB, the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, are ready to sit at the negotiation table also with representatives of other parties that are interested in strengthening the unionist platform.
