Valeriu Munteanu: Normal for NOW to have two parliamentary groups

If the NOW bloc decides to create two separate parliamentary groups in the Parliament next week, it would be perfectly normal, argues Valeriu Munteanu. The former deputy leader of the Liberal Party, who ran on behalf of NOW during the elections, says the decision belongs to the bloc and it’s within their rights to create two groups, IPN reports.

“It would be worse if they create one group without unity inside it. Better two, if they decide so, but to preserve their unity”, Munteanu said during a talk-show on N4.

He thinks a two-way split would be the best scenario and dismissed the three group scenario. “There is an agreement between two parties, based on which the bloc was formed. All the others who joined are sidekicks, some supported the bloc conditionally, others unconditionally”, explained the politician.

Munteanu said that Andrei Nastase, co-leader of NOW, offered him to continue their collaboration. “Mr. Nastase, like the other leaders of NOW, understands that we can resist and move forward in a positive direction only by joining our forces, given the current situation. Otherwise things could worsen. Losing people who haven’t left Moldova yet, who are willing to help, would be irresponsible”, said the former Liberal.

Valeriu Munteanu refused to clarify whether he would run for mayor of Chisinau in the upcoming local elections.
