Valeriu Munteanu: I voted for European capital city

The Liberal candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Valeriu Munteanu voted for a European capital city. He anticipated that there will be no clear winner in the first round of voting and runoffs will be thus held, IPN reports.

“I voted to free Chisinau from the firm grip of the toxic duo that controlls the whole Moldova and is now trying to also seize the capital city by non-democratic ways. I voted for a European Chisinau where we would live decently. I voted for freedom, democracy and for values in which everyone believes and by which we should abide in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Valeriu Munteanu.

He noted he considers the elections are an event by which democarcy in Moldova should be strengthened.

Over 300,000 voters marked their ballots in Chisinau municipality by 10am. This is 4.7% of those written on the electoral registers.

The voter rolls for the new mayoral elections held in seven communities on May 20 include 749 272 people. The 375 polling places established for these elections were opened at 7am without incidents.
