The Liberal candidate for mayor of Chisinau Valeriu Munteanu said that he struggles first of all for a European Chisinau and that he is the only candidate who knows, wants and can transform Chisinau into a European capital, while the other candidates are European only in words, not yet in deeds. The Liberal called on the residents of Chisinau to go to the polls on May 20 and not to believe those who say that the vote will be rigged, IPN reports.
“Our fate for a long period of time or even for ever will be decided this Sunday. We will know if we go towards the European Union, towards Romania or towards Putin’s Eurasia. We will know if we go towards justice and a better life or towards the Eurasian world proposed by Plahotniuc and Dodon,” Valeriu Munteanu stated in a news conference on the last campaigning day.
According to the Liberal, the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo illegally suspended Dorin Chirtoaca in 2017, only because the Liberal MPs didn’t vote the mixed electoral system in Parliament. After they removed Dorin Chirtoaca, they illegally named Silvia Radu acting mayor.
“This evil plan was thwarted by the personal act of courage of Dorin Chirtoaca, who provoked these elections by his resignation. I ask you to come and vote on Sunday so as to show your anger and to show to the whole world that has its eye on us that we are dignified and are free, that we are the residents of a capital city not a flock that believes that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo can control it as this wants,” noted Valeriu Munteanu.
He also said that the city should enjoy financial autonomy. All the taxes collected in the city should remain in the municipal budget and should not be used by the Government as this wants. Chisinau needs large investment projects to attract firms that provide well-paid jobs.
Valeriu Munteanu promised he will do his utmost for the Chisinau International Airport to be transferred from the Ministry of Economy to the Chisinau City Hall and will annul the concession contract.
“If any other candidate wins the mayoralty, Chisinau will remain stagnant and will degrade. I know best the laws and the state institutions. We can exert positive pressure on the Municipal Council, on Parliament and on the Government so that the problems of the capital city are solved,” he stated.
The Liberal candidate noted that a big struggle will be given on May 20, but he is confident that he will win. “The Plahotniuc-Dodon duo fears the people’s vote the mots. They are afraid of you. Go to the polls and the victory will be ours. Vote Valeriu Munteanu!” he urged.
