Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said he did not have consensual objections to the September 27 Government Decision to provide new social allowances, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Lazar, all the members of the Cabinet agreed to identify a method to help the people on low incomes.”Taking into account the parameters agreed with the IMF and the impossibility of raising the pensions, it was decided to provide assistance to the recipients of social benefits by increasing their number,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. Valeriu Lazar expressed his bewilderment at the fact that the relevant amendments to the three budget laws – the state budget law, the social insurance budget law, and the law on social benefits paid to deprived groups – were not submitted to Parliament for examination, as expected. “The constitutional instrument used to amend the three legislative documents is new. It has not been applied earlier and its consequences are unknown. What will we do if a group of MPs file a censorship motion during 72 hours? What will we do if the legislative body is dissolved and the Government is nonfunctional?” Lazar asked. The Government identified an additional sum of 450 million lei for implementing the mentioned amendments.
