Valeriu Jereghi’s “Milika” to be premiered on October 19

The premiere of the fiction film “Milika” by Valeriu Jereghi will take place at the Gaudeamus movie theater in Chisinau on October 19. The film was made last autumn and represents a European coproduction between France, Poland and Moldova. “Milika” is a dramatic film about a little girl whose parents separated and formed new families each, while the child remained with the grandmother, IPN reports.

Shooting took place in Butuceni, Orheiul Vechi. The main parts are played by Valeriu Jereghi’s daughter Emilia and his mother Teodora Jereghi. The cast also includes singer Anatol Myrzenko, actor Boris Bechet, lawyer Violeta Gashitsoi, prima ballerina of Moldova Anastasia Homitskaya, folk music singer Oxana Mardari and businessman Nicolai Velikii. Valeriu Jereghi said the shooting was like a training course for the Moldovan filmmakers who took part in the production.

The event will open with an exhibition of handicrafts and a performance of music by folkloric groups from Straseni town. Anatol Myrzenko will also perform several songs exclusively for the moviegoers. Before the screening, those attending will be able to listen to the music written for “Milika” by Didier Falk, which is performed by the Chamber Orchestra of the Organ Hall. The French composer will attend the event as a guest of honor.

Entrance to the premier is invitation-based. On October 20-23, the film will be shown at the same movie theater together with Jereghi’s “Arrivederci”.
