Valeriu Ghiletski at PACE: Settlement of Transnistrian conflict is a priority
The necessity of settling the Transnistrian dispute is urgent, especially after the January 1 shooting incident at a peacekeeping post situated in the Security Zone, lawmaker Valeriu Ghiletski said in the debates held within the PACE session in the context of the post-election situation in Russia, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The replacement of the military peacekeeping mission with a civil one under international mandate in Moldova’s Transnistrian region is an imperative priority,” Valeriu Ghiletski said on January 26. He also spoke about the statements made by Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova Valery Kuzmin after the regrettable incident, when a Russian peacekeeper wounded mortally a local. The Moldovan MP said they are provoking and offensive and caused tension on the banks of the Nistru River.

The winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe takes place in Strasbourg between January 23 and 27. Moldova is represented by lawmakers Stella Jantuan, Ana Gutu, Valeriu Ghiletski and Grigore Petrenko.
