Judoka Valeriu Duminica took the fifth position at the European Judo Championships held in Russia’s Kazan after winning four victories and suffering two defeats, IPN reports.
He beat Konstantins Ovchinikovs (Latvia), Adrian Nasiemnto Lorenzo (Spain), Srdjan Mrvajevic (Montenegro) and Jaromir Musil (Czech Republic). In the first match, he lost to the future finalist Avtandil Tchrikishvili. The Georgian athlete is also a world champion. In the match for the bronze medal, Duminica was defeated by Ivaylo Ivanov. The Bulgarian judoka also won against Moldova’s Nicon Zaboroshchuk.
Owing to his good performance in Kazan, Valeriu Duminica came closer to the Rio Olympic Games of August 5-21.
