Valentina Stratan: Life expectancy grows in Moldova

Life expectancy grows in the Republic of Moldova. This is due also to a worldwide tendency. At the same time, the social policies implemented in the Republic of Moldova will lead to a better quality of life and to the improvement of health, Democratic MP Valentina Stratan was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel.

“All these policies we apply, realizing that the citizens deserve to live better, are aimed at raising the living standards and the health problems then would be much fewer in number and the people would want to work more,” stated Valentina Stratan.

She noted that at international level the policies center on active aging. “Such policies are also pursued by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and by other  European institutions so that we have healthy people involved in different activities,” she stated.

As to the pension reform, Valentina Stratan explained there were four valorization stages that covered 301,000 pensioners. The value of these valorizations was different, from several tens of lei to almost 3,000 lei. “Everything depended on the pensioner’s contributions,” she stated, adding the contribution made by the person while working is the key factor in this reform.

The MP said the revenues of the 2019 social insurance budget will rise by about 2 billion lei. “We can already say that the social budget increased and, if we have money, we could plan the rising costs so as to ensure a higher level of protection for the people,” she stated.

Furthermore, Valentina Stratan said the minimum subsistence level according to which pensions were recently indexed will change and the pensions will be thus adjusted based on the new minimum subsistence level.
