Valentina Buliga: Uninsured mothers who receive minimum allowance can ask for additional social welfare

The socially uninsured mothers who receive a minimum monthly allowance of 640 lei can apply to obtain additional social welfare from the state if they do not have other incomes, the head of the National House of Social Insurance Valentina Buliga was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel.

Valentina Buliga said the allowance as from January 1, 2019 was raised from 540 to 630 lei, while the age of the child by which the uninsured mothers receive this allowance – from 1.5 years to 2 years. “The rise is not large, but we must tend to increase it,” she stated.

From this year, the one-time childbirth allowance for children born in 2019 will be 6,303 lei.

Valentina Buliga also said that a working person now ensures the pension for 1.3 pensioners. To raise this coefficient, the number of jobs should be increased. “If there are more employers and more contributions are paid to the social fund, there will be more possibilities of increasing the pension for elderly people and of initiating more social programs,” said the functionary.

In accordance with the recommendations formulated in the social sphere, for the elderly people to get decent pensions, the ratio should be of four employees to a pensioner, which is the pension of an elderly person will be formed of the contributions paid by four employed persons.

Valentina Buliga noted the authorities this May will recalculate and will determine a new official minimum salary.
