Vadim Krasnoselski: No Russian soldier will leave region

Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski told the local press that no Russian soldier will leave the region if the people of Transnistria oppose this no matter how much some of the politicians want this. He referred to the Moldovan Parliament’s Statement on the pullout of the Russian military forces from Transnistria adopted on July 21, IPN reports.

“By tradition, the Moldovan politicians each year state their wish to expel the Russian presence from here, both by the decision of the Constitutional Court and by the recent decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. This is worrisome and leads at least to the escalation of the conflict. The replacement of the Russian peacekeepers and elimination of the Russian presence is a way to war. This is inacceptable. We can compare some of the Moldovan politicians with jugglers of fire in a barrel of gunpowder. This is a very dangerous activity. Consequently, we traditionally invite to negotiations and urge to avoid unilateral actions against Transnistria,” stated Krasnoselski.

He noted that in such conditions and with such solutions on the part of the Moldovan authorities, a rapprochement is out of the question. “We have completely different ways: someone to the West, while the other one to the East, in Russia,” said the Transnistrian leader.

He also said that during 25 years, the peacekeeping mission has proved its efficiency as no citizen was killed. “Owing to the presence of Russian peacekeepers, there is peace on the territory of the Transnistrian region and this peace should be defended,” stated Vadim Krasnoselski.
