Vadim Krasnoselski: I am open to dialogue with Moldova's leadership

The leader of Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, said that his attitude toward the authorities in Chisinau has not changed despite the political shifts in the Republic of Moldova following the presidential elections and Maia Sandu’s victory. The self-proclaimed president of the region reiterated that he remains open to dialogue and is willing to establish official contacts with the leadership in Chisinau, according to an interview given by Krasnoselski to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, IPN reports.

"I have repeatedly sent official letters to the President of Moldova, proposing high-level meetings to discuss the relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol," Krasnoselski said.

The leader of Transnistria also commented on the difficulties faced by residents of the breakaway region during the second round of Moldova's presidential elections on November 3. According to Krasnoselski, several actions—such as the closure of bridges over the Dniester River and the alleged "mining" of the building in Varnita that housed voting stations raise significant concerns.

"Incidents like these suggest that someone in Moldova was afraid of the opinion of citizens from the Transnistrian region. These actions created an objective impression that there was a concern about our vote and our opinion," Krasnoselski added.

In the referendum on Moldova’s potential accession to the European Union, citizens from the left bank of the Dniester River voted "Yes" at a higher rate than in some regions on the right bank. Over 31% of the population in the left-bank region, or 4,816 people, supported the referendum, a number higher than in Gagauzia and some northern districts of the country.
