Even if the deadline for putting the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline into operation is this yearend, the new Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brînzan said the pipeline at the end of 2019 will be 90% ready. In a program on TVR Moldova channel, he said the gas will start to be supplied through this pipeline next February, IPN reports.

“The financing was unfrozen and the project is being implemented. There are particular bureaucratic obstacles that can be solved rather swiftly. A number of problems related to the lands through which the pipeline goes and hindrances related to the calculation of VAT appeared, but these can be solved,” stated Vadim Brînzan.

He noted the project goes on. Solutions should be yet found to ensure the supply of the country with gas next winter. The contract for the supply of gas signed with Russian expires this December. “I don’t think we have reasons for concern. We are working on this problem and looking for solutions. When we find solutions, these will be put into practice,” said the minister, adding the negotiations with Russia on the issue were already opened.

As regards the infrastructure, Vadim Brînzan said the Western partners are ready to offer assistance in developing this sector.
