Vacancies for Supervisory Board member filled
The parliamentary commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media designated six members of the Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”. They will be presented to the Parliament at one of the next sittings for approval, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The vacancies will be filled by journalist Raisa Lozinski-Hadei, politologist Aurelia Peru-Balan, jurist Eugeniu Rybka, journalist Viorica Cucereanu, film director Vitalie Tapes and journalist Viorica Prodan-Mesina. The candidates were selected at the commission’s meeting on December 16.
Initially, there were examined Raisa Lozinski and Alexandru Grosu, who competed for the same post. Afterward, the commission questioned the other ten candidates selected by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC).
The meeting started with a dispute and a part of the members of the commission, two unaffiliated and three Communist MPs, left the assembly hall. They demanded that the meeting be postponed for a week as the court is to make a decision on the application contesting the results of the contest held by the BCC to fill the vacancies, filed by the Council member Corneliu Mihalache. The other members of the commission asked consulting the head of the Parliament’s Legal Division Ion Creanga, who said the meeting was legal and can go on.
As the quorum was not present, the remaining members, who form part of the Alliance for European Integration, decided to invite Prime Minister Vlad Filat to the meeting as he is also an MP and a member of the commission.
During discussions, most of the members agreed that the format of the news programs of the public broadcaster should be changed so as to make Moldova 1 channel more interesting.
The commission’s head Corina Fusu said the Supervisory Board has been nonfunctional for about a year and it is time to bring things at “Teleradio-Moldova” in order.
