V Gagauz People's Assembly holds inaugural meeting
The Fifth People's Assembly of Gagauzia held its inaugural meeting today. The event was attended by Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu and Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vlad Filat stated that in a short period of time the representatives of the Moldovan Government should meet with the members of the autonomy's authorities to develop together a strategic plan for Gagauzia's development in the next five years.
“Over the course of this period we plan to focus on the most important projects for the development of the region, and this includes water supply, improved education and infrastructure, and the development of the agricultural and social sector”, said Vlad Filat.
The elections in the Gagauz People's Assembly took place on September 9 and 23. As a result, 25 unaffiliated candidates, 7 Communists, 2 Liberal-Democrats and one Socialist were elected.
