The police searched the head office of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) and the domicile of the party’s leader Renato Usatyi and seized all the computers of the party’s activists, CDs, electronic devices and documents, IPN reports.
After Renato Usatyi was arrested by officers of the Security and Intelligence Service at the Chisinau airport in the evening of October 23, he was escorted to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) for questioning. His lawyer Ana Ursachi and activists of the party consider Usatyi was arrested after he published on the Internet the telephone conversations between businessman Ilan Shor and ex-Premier Vlad Filat.
According to the PGO’s spokeswoman Maria Vieru, Usatyi was placed under arrest for 72 hours and is investigated as a suspect in the case started over violation of the privacy of correspondence, which is punished with a fine of up to 4,000 lei or community service. Usatyi refused to make statements.
Renato Usatyi was present during the search at his home. When going out of his house, the mayor of Balti said this is Moldovan anarchism. The activists of PPPN protested at the party’s head office and near the political leaders’ home, demanding that Usatyi should be set free. The lawyers challenged the decision to place Usatyi under arrest for 72 hours.
Today Renato Usatyi will be questioned again.
