USA, Moldova to sign grant disbursement memo
The USA and Moldova will sign an agreement memorandum regarding the disbursement of a grant, intended to accomplishing the technical, environmental social studies for the investment projects of the Compact Program. The memorandum will be signed during the visit of the Millennium Challenges Corporation’ mission (MCC) from the USA to in Chisinau, led by its deputy president, John Hewko, From November 13 to 21, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a Compact Program‘s press release, the parties will examine the optimization of the institutional framework to ensure the sustainable functioning of the irrigation systems. They will also make a poll of the agricultural producers in order to assess the irrigation potential and the potential project beneficiaries.
At the sitting of the consultative group of the project “Transition to Performing Agriculture,” the MCC representatives will finalize the technical and institutional aspects of the irrigation system rehabilitation.
The Millennium Challenge Program was instituted by the US Congress in 2004, upon the request of US President George W. Bush. The program provides financial assistance to low-income countries for their economic development.
Moldova became eligible to benefit from thorough funds of the Corporation in November 2006. The group for implementing the Compact Program was formed in order to work out the country proposal.
